In 1984 Tom White Sr. purchased seven and one-half square miles of the Peacock cattle ranch, with the intent of converting it into “the best and most livable community in America. “We are now on the threshold of seeing that dream fulfilled.

Accomplishing this required thirty major governmental approvals, the construction of I-95 Interchange and a bridge over Florida’s Turnpike. We also built the 100-acre $11.2 million St. LucieWestCounty Sports Complex, the Florida home of the New York Mets since 1988, considered the finest spring training facility in the country. We have donated land for BarryUniversity and Indian RiverCommunity College, for churches, schools, parks, roadways and natural preserves - all at no cost to taxpayers.

For our residents’ enjoyment we have created the St. Lucie West Country Club, with its championship caliber, Jim Fazio-designed golf course. We have constructed an advanced reverse osmosis water and sewer plant; our CommercePark is expanding rapidly, and is becoming the source of many new job opportunities right here in our community.
